Jacobus Willem Brits or "Buks" looks after our Hach on-line analysers and is Product Manager, of the analytical group. We call him Buks cause "The Buks stop here". Buks did his instrumentation training at Vaal Reefs, then for the next 17 years or so years tried to make our tap-water drinkable at Rand Water, joining Prei in 2003, and via his sales of analysers to Rand Water is still trying to make our tap-water drinkable!

Mrs Cheryll Smith is the omnipotent one, to whom we all must submit. Why? Because she the financial manager, admin supervisor and her word is law. Before joining Prei in 2003, Cheryll had 15 years in banking, with F.N.B, Standard and Central Merchant Bank. She resides on a farm, where she does things with horses.

Let's start with the old man who thinks he runs the company.

Dave Cox is our Managing Director, he still remembers when the standard instrumentation signal was 3 – 15 psi!

Dave's background starts many years ago, when Adam was a boy, with an instrument technician apprenticeship at I.C.I. in the UK. After emigrating to S.A. had stints at AECI, Anglo Platinum ( on the tools) , joined Phillips and began a career in a sales and marketing. He's been with Prei since 1984, and now attempts to look after advertising, sales of our smaller ranges of instrumentation and generally just messes about with the director level stuff

David Maremani is our store assistant, local handyman and instrument assembler and packer. We have even trained him to do fiberglass work but he does not enjoy the itch.

Then we have Joel Kgofelo our trusty driver who delivers all over Johannesburg and knows every short cut.

Then there is Marlene Ehlers, who is responsible for our range of LaMotte Laboratory and Lab analytical equipment, she's very smart, we couldn't even spell Laboratory until she joined us. Marlene spent the last 22 years working at Emfuleni Council as first a water technologist and then as the Laboratory Supervisor, joining us in 2010.

Neville Jegels is the guy looking after our analyser business in mine water, industrial, food/beverage industries. Neville has 17 years of instrumentation experience from workshop calibration, field-work, technical support and sales, joining us in 2011. He also dabbles in alternative energy systems and set up his house on solar panel power, until it hailed... end of story.

Our man in the Western Cape, Neville McEwan, has been with us since 2008. He is well known in the area for his instrumentation knowledge and ability to get things done. He has his "board" meetings at Noordhoek especially when the surf is up.

Pieter Erasmus is product manager for our range of instrumentation for monitoring vibration and rotating machinery, and is also involved with our gas detection range of products. Piet started as an appy electrician at the SA Air Force, spent time at PPC and was acting electrical engineer at Mogale G.M. before joining us in 2004. He also thinks he's a clone of Bruce Lee, does that karate type stuff, more often than not, he comes to the office like a cripple after a session at his dojo. He thinks gardening is fun too !!!

Steve Herbst, our co-director, manages, somehow, our water instrumentation portfolio and gets involved with the gas monitoring stuff. When he is not doing that, he fiddles with our computer system, have you ever heard a computer scream? Steve was trained as an Instrument Technician at Iscor, moved to AECI, gained his sales experience at L+N and KENT Instrumentation (especially analysers), then went on to specialize in Instrumentation /Electrical Projects Engineering and Management both for SAB and Illovo Sugar. He joined Prei in 1997 and was appointed the group director in 2001 and became a shareholder. He functions best when attempting to sell our range of analysers to some of the big boys in the water industries. For fun he does crazy things like racing a Westbank V8 car, but hey!!! Whatever turns you on.

Ziyanda Mhlauli is the second member of administration and receptionist. When all fails and panic sets in call Ziyanda, the only one who knows where everything is. Ziyanda has been with us since 2008, and is an absolute gem.
